Hello Our DM wants a little break from DMing, so I offered I could DM some short module. My DnD experience is limited, since the highest level character I actually played is level 3. I sort-of DMed before bur not really, so I am not 100% new to DMing just 98% :D So what kind of items would level 9 get? What would you suggest I should do?
Without wanting to be a spoilsport; is the 9th level aspect changeable? The amount of variables involved grows exponentially (e.g. available spells and features), as does the impact on whether or not your players are min-maxing characters & the synergy of their class choices i.e. will the 'by the book' encounters be a push-over for them.
As you're new to DM'ing and this could be a big help to your group in the long run, might everyone just be amenable to a starter module for a starter DM? Could be a different setting to your current campaign, so potentially the start of something parallel rather than a DM vacation. ^_^
I am going to run Artifices Of Quartztoil Tower that is for 3-5 sessions made to fit any campain and any level. We are doing higher levels just for fun
I’d suggest limited use magic items or +1 weapons only. And only one magic item per PC. Something that only works 3-4 times a day will be easier for you to handle than something like Staff of Power.

I planned to use the treasure tables in DMG (https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dmg/treasure#RandomTreasure) for starting with a party of experienced adventurers.

Through a cursed item their way.
Girdle of gender change is old but good one. Disguise it as something marvelous. Identify spell isn't a wonder cure all for identity.
