I am starting a smaller West Marches style game and have more than 1 DM. Its the first time i have used D&D beyond for a campaign so i'm a little lost . Is it possible to have more then one DM in a campaign. Will it even be necessary ?
Sure, it can happen. It's only necessary if the one DM is too busy, can't handle it, just wants help, wants to play as a PC sometimes too, etc. Nothing wrong with the idea.
The big thing is to coordinate. Even in a West Marches campaign, you want to make sure that you and the other DM are on the same page. If you're planning future scenarios in the Lost City of Tookalooko, you want to make sure that the other DM doesn't blow up the city during one of their sessions :) Just keep them involved with what you're planning, even on a general level, and they can go off and do something else.
Also be ready to be flexible--sometimes something will happen that will affect what you are planning. That's fine, roll with it :)
EDIT: Sorry, read right past the part about the mechanics here at DDB. Please apply what I've said to just DMing in general :/
It is currently not possible to have multiple DMs in a campaign on DDB. As for wether or not you need their to be depends on the level of control you want when you DM.
As long as character sheets are set to public, every player in the campaign can see each other's characters except creatures and background. If that is enough, then your fine.
