I already understand most of how to make a character, but i'm entirely new to Cantrips and Spells. I picked a Tiefling as my race and read that I start with Hellish Rebuke and Thaumaturgy by default as two spells, and I get to pick two additional spells from the warlock table along with a spell from my fiend. Do I get a fiend spell and two spells of my choice?
Spells from your race do not count against spells known/prepared from a class, this includes Cantrips. If your race gives you Cantrips, you still learn the number of Cantrips listed on the class table in addition. Furthermore, if you multiclass, the spells known/prepared from class A do not count against class B and vice versa.
The spell lists on the subclasses for Warlock are spells you may select, you do not automatically gain them. If a subclass or class automatically gains spells, they do not count against your known/prepared limit listed on the table.
I'm new to D&D so please bear with me
