I'm working on a homebrew race with subraces, but am unable to connet the subraces with the base race. I'm able to select the subraces in the character builder as if they were the base, but it just looks cluttered and unorganized. How to I get them together?

You can't (yet) only official races have race groups in the builder.

Oh, so any custom race has to have their subraces separated for now?

Yeah. As long as selecting the subrace gives you the traits of the parent race, it is working as intended.
