We're starting our first DnD game ever soon, and I have a half-orc barbarian with the outlander background. I really wanted to do something creative with the hunting trophy I get from the outlander background. My idea is to get something that can be crafted into a decent item, I was thinking about getting an animal part to make either a weapon or some type of cloak or armor with. I took smithing tools as well, to facilitate this idea. I know how smithing works and that it will take a while to complete. I will of course ask my dm if the animal/monster part is allowed. I just want some ideas on some cool animal-part/item combinations.
My DMs have allowed me to do almost anything with that and I’d allow anything that is reasonable. Fur cloak from a wolf that you killed in your rite of manhood? Absolutely! Hide armor from a bear that a hunting party that you were in brought down? Of course!
Anything that’s mundane that you can make from an animal won’t break the game so I’d give you a lot of leeway. It just adds flavor and that’s fun!
