Anyone else notice that the spell slots for multi-classing 2 spell caster classes are not right (if you go by the PHB rules)? Am I dumb or are they wrong?

I have a level 6 paladin/ level 2 war domain cleric. I understand that Paladins don't get spells until level 2. So this should make me a multicalssed spellcaster of level 7 right? If that is so, I shoudl have 4, 3, 3,1 (Spell slots from 1st-4th). Beyond is showing 4,3,2. (1st -3rd level). IDK if I am interpreting the rules wrong in the PHB or what. I could just be dumb.
Paladin levels count half as much to determine the equivalent level of multiclass spellcasting. So in your case, your equivalent level would be 5, which, in the table, gives you 4, 3 and 2 slots for levels 1, 2 and 3, respectively.

Which two classes and how many are you seeing?
Can you specify your case?

Did not realize that paladin levels counted as half a level. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Figured this would end up being the case.
Yea, turns out the answer was "I'm dumb and don't bother to read the page before the table in the PHB".

Honestly, it's just a weird mechanic. No worries though :D

I didn't say it didn't make sense, I just said it was a weird mechanic. It was an opinion.
