There are several other web page annotation tools out there that would probably work, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience using any of these tools to mark up their D&D Beyond books as part of their DM prep. Any recommendations or strategies for virtual post-it notes and highlighting?

One problem might be how much server load this could potentially add. There are also alternatives to this idea that may already be part of DM screen or campaign page plans.

There is a feature request for the capability to add DM Notes and annotations to books published on D&D Beyond: https://dndbeyond.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360027817454-Ability-to-add-notes-to-published-campaigns. The same request has popped up in the forums a few times, too.
This feature doesn't appear to be in the roadmap, and I suspect it needs some more votes to get the attention of the developers.
However, Hypergig pointed out that you can achieve the same functionality using existing Web annotation/note-taking tools like https://web.hypothes.is/ (https://dndbeyond.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360027817454/comments/360009687774).
