Looking for thought and ideas. Party of 6 lvl 9 characters need to access a secret room within a palatial library. There are only 15 people that know how to get in. These 15 will not deny the room’s existence nor will they admit it exists. Here are two entrances, one in the library itself and the other in the chambers of the High Channeler, located in an adjacent building. For those familiar with the Wheel of Time series, I am basing this off the 13th depository. I don’t feel like there would be monsters or traps associated with getting in. The difficulty I image will be with simply located the entrances. I do not want this to be a “ pull every book in the library” to open the secret passage so what ideas are out there for located said entrances? How would you look for the entrance?
A permanent glyph, similar to a glyph of warding, that teleports you to the hidden room, hidden under a lead inkwell (to block detect magic) that's covered in gold leaf to match all the other actual gold inkwells around the room
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
Depending on the party. Have my character with a high perception/investigaton search the room. Hit them with a guidance or a flash of genius or both. Try locate object, where the object is: door to a secret room. Could be some other divination spells would work. Find one of the 15 and get it out of them. Detect thoughts might do it, or a good persuasion/intimidation check. Or get stealthy and follow them around until they go there.
