Well it’s now up for preorder so we can officially check out what it contains and interestingly the listing makes no mention of any subclasses besides the Artificer ones and with only 25 monsters and 1 new spell it’s looking pretty thin on the ground. However the combined digital/physical bundle is only $39, a lot less than the bundles for previous recent releases, so is this WotC making a move to smaller cheaper releases?
I think this came out in a smaller one just to give people easier access to the 2024 revision Artificer and a light start on Eberron in general.
This is also the first time I've seen my old Sourcebook Bundle discount work in the new marketplace, so the book came out pretty cheap. $22 for the digital with taxes.
Depends on how big the book is. Intend to find that when companies make books smaller to make them more financially accessible, content levels go down faster than the price.

17 backgrounds? That’s more than in the PHB. I wonder how tied to eberron they will be, vs. how easy it will be to file off the serial numbers and use them in other campaigns.

It seems very likely that some or all of them will be Dragonmark related.

That never seemed to be an issue for people before...

Going by the UA, the background feats are going to be a bit overtuned compared to the origin feats from the '24 PHB.

Probably. I was just thinking of when aberrant dragonmark feat first came out. Now, it’s pretty much on par with other feats, but at the time it was really very strong. And it was balanced by the idea that in eberron, your character would be hunted down as some kind of danger to society. So mechanically strong but balanced by role play consequences that were kind of eberron-specific. Certainly, it’s not too hard for a DM to come up with a reason why your character is being hunted in some other setting. But that’s kind of what I was getting at, is how much work it will take.
My question before buying the Bundle is will there be an alt-Hardcover edition at FLGSs?
I will happily order the Bundle if there's no alt-cover, but I'd prefer an alt-cover edition. From how this reads, it's not a replacement for the RFLW Campaign Setting, but an expansion/replacement of the game mechanics for 2024, with some additional story lore for making adventures, so more of an update of Wayfinder's Guide.

There's 13 Dragonmarked Houses, so that's a big chunk of them. In terms of Dragonmarks in other settings, Abberant Dragonmarks are by intention "destructive" where the "thirteen minutes one" acceptable ones are "constructive".
So maybe the Council of Mages in Faerun has found out about your mark and wants to destroy it to keep the world safe. Or the Circle of Eight in Flaness has decided that you're too destablizing of an element and need to be removed.
Question about the preorder, have they made the preorder bonuses only for those that preorder the ultimate bundle now? As when i switch between the Bundle and not bundle the price changes but the description doesn't.

No they mention it in the other ones as well, it's just a pre-order bonus. The ultimate bundle just includes the other Everton books as well.

Any idea how they plan on fixing the tools problem with Artificer? It used to be up to the DM to decide what stat you used with your tools. Now that Smith Tools is Strength based, that doesn't work so well for the Artificer/Armorer since Strength is a dump stat. Maybe they have a special way for the Armorer to use his Int stat for Smith Tools?

They've never said anything about there being any non-Artificer subclasses in this book, so that's not really a surprise.
On the whole it looks pretty similar in scale to Eberron: Rising from the Last War from way back when.

True about the subclasses, I just found the content listing fairly bare bones and found the lower price point interesting

If piecewise purchases were still available, I'd absolutely get the updated artificer. Since that's not an option, I doubt I'll ever buy this book.
I’ve seen people complaining about the idea of having to purchase a whole sourcebook for access to Artificer, so I guess this is the response to that.

It also has updated Species including a Half Elf, so there is that.
She/Her Player and Dungeon Master
