l have a idea for a teifling warlock/sorcerer whos patron is their father.
The mom would be a human, but l dont know if they would have been tricked (the father pretended to be human and the mom fell in love with who she thought was human ) or the mother was a cultist worshiping the eventual father. l also think a reason for the father to want to have a child with a mortal would be needed (possibly to have a powerful follower.) Also l dont exactly know who the father would be other then A devil,so ideas would be great
obviously a teifling child of a literal being of hell has a huge risk of being a edgelord, but for obvious reasons l dont want them to be one,so any help developing this character and avoiding "the edge" would be great!
on a side note, would it even be possible for a devil to fall in love? l doubt it,but l want to know if its a option. also this was made based on the understanding that teiflings are of demonic blood,so being a child of a devil should be possible, but plz tell me if my understanding is wrong.
Tieflings have fiendish blood. That means, it could be a Baatezu (Devils), Taanr'ri (demons), Obyrith (Really really old demons), Yugoloths (just plain evil fiends, or Daemons) or a Succubus (which serves all of the above).
So canonically, these relationships are not about love, but are more likely about extending power or lust. The current named tiefling sub races are all arch-devils and per Mordenkaines, gender doesn't mean the same thing to them as it does to mortals. This means, that your "father" could be a shape changed Fernia, or Glasya or just a succubus that is now an incubus.
So while the child could be simply an extension of influence and power, every Arch-Devil or Demon Prince could have a deeper motivation. A child of Mammon would be seeking more wealth, and has empowers you to find it. A child of Mephistopheles would be probably sent to find arcane secrets for dad. On the Demons and their princes, Graz'tz is a hedonist, seeking new pleasures and extending his reach. Fraz-urb'luu is all about deceptions, and seeks to rebuild his staff of power, and wants to use you to do it...of course, you might not KNOW that, he might tell you he's Graz'tz after all. If you want a powerful succubus, the Succubus queen, Malcanthet or her daughter Red Shroud are good and they just keep expanding their 'family' and they might have a deeper reason, but they might just need you to do something specific for them, during your short life (aka. you are just a tool).
So the last one, Red Shroud starts going off into 'exceptions' One of her daughters is Fall-From-Grace, a Lawful Neutral, chaste succubus cleric. So she is an exception to the rule of what a succubus is. So you aren't bound by canon. Could Graz'tz feel a momentary flicker of love in a mortal? Sure it could happen. And he might fall out of love too. Bottom line its your idea, and don't let the written canon block you from telling a story.
BUT, any of the above should be discussed with the DM. Being the direct child of a powerful named fiend can be disruptive (You hurt me! I'm calling my daddy!) The DM can help you bring this story and relationship to life, by making requests as your patron. So I would start to answer the questions above (who is my mother? Cultist? Tricked housewife? Victim) and then work with the DM on what the father's motivations are, and pick a fiend of choice from there.

Lot of mythology has stories of gods sleeping with mortals, for various reasons, and fathering children. Zeus comes to mind.
