One player in my campaign received a long sword called "lifebloom" The player has struggled at times on how to use the weapon (how much damage etc). I thought I could maybe help today by trying to find the original source and reading the description of the weapon. I'm having a heck of a time finding this.
When I search on D&D Beyond it tells me there is nothing that comes up for "lifebloom."
BUT, when I go into my own character sheet, and search under the "Add equipment" it will allow me to add the "lifebloom longsword." (I thought I saw that the source was in the free rules of the 2024 rules, but when I look there I can find no mention of it).
After multiple searches on Google, I think I finally found the source... it's a special DM's Guild adventure/source called "Fey Companion" and it's listed as a weapon that one of the NPC characters has. (I think our player defeated him and this won his sword).
Where I'm getting a bit confused then, is if this is an unofficial weapon (ie: Dms Guild) how is it showing up in the equipment list of DnD Beyond? Is this maybe a custom weapon that someone added at some point? OR is it an official magical weapon?
When I add the weapon to my inventory, and click on it to read the description it says, "1d8+1" (my char has +1 STR). Then in parenthesis it lists the two handed damage 1d10+1, but then under that it lists another 1d8+4 (not idea why it has +4?), and it has the slashing damage icon. No where does it mention anything about "poison."
Very confused. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. (PS> I realize this is ultimately our GM's call, but I'm just trying to help by finding the original source description of this weapon).
As I understand it, the "lifebloom longsword" grants an extra 1d8 poison damage when used as a two-handed weapon. This is listed in the Fey Companion.
My guess? It is a homebrew item being shared within your campaign from someone in it. That is why you can't find an official version. Look near the top of the item and see who the publisher is.

That must be it. I don't see anything near the top of the item that says who the publisher is.
I think you might be right... my guess then... Player added a standard "longsword" to their equipment. Then clicked on the "customize" button on his character sheet and renamed it to "lifebloom longsword" and added his own notes modifications. So because we're in the same campaign, when I search in the equipment list (Manage Inventory) it's showing me the custom named weapon. I'm 99.9% certain he did not go through the process of doing a homebrew weapon (hmm, unless someone else did maybe, and that's why I'm seeing it in the search results). It's all a bit much and it's not my weapon to begin with! :D Thanks for the response.

The "Flower of Life" sword appears to be a custom weapon or from a third-party source such as the Dungeon Masters Guild or a specific supplement.
