I have loved D&D for a very long time. It is absolutely awful how Wizards is treating their community.
You cannot turn every hobby into a SAAS sales model.
The fact that y'all are doing this out of the desire to appease shareholders will strangle your company. You run a game company, it is unrealistic to expect infinite growth.
The way WoTC is handling the OGL is despicable.
You may be trying to wait out the storm, but this will not die down. You will simply kill a once beloved hobby.
I was mad. But now there are a host of competitors who have their heads screwed on straight, and they have track records of making solid games and consistently better content than Wizards. Too bad they didn't check with actual nerds before pulling this skulduggery. We spent 50 years imagining ourselves mighty heroes facing off against implacable evil, what did they expect to happen when an actual evil showed itself?
I want to follow up with this: I started playing D&D in 1984 *ironic chuckle.* I've been through more systems than I can recall, but I always came back. I created a DDB account because I finally found myself in a place where I have the time and resources to start creating indie content, and I thought DDB and DMs Guild might be an easy way to publish.
If you look left, at my join date, you'll understand. I decided to throw my hat in the ring just as Wizards tried to annex the whole ring. Now I'm halfway done with a completely original system and Paizo are making the ORC license, under which I intend to publish.
You want me back, Wizards? I'm gonna need some PDFs to go with my books, and a serious overhaul of the OGL. Oh, and you'll have to make superior products as well.

Hi there,

I'm not mad, just disappointed.
Take care
I'm not mad, just disappointed.
