I know that an echo is not a creature, but it very clearly states that when you make an attack, it can come from either you or your echo. If you and your echo stand on opposite sides if an enemy, he has no way of knowing where the attack is coming from. He might be engaged in battle with the a 5th level echo knight, who makes an attack, then manifests an echo behind him, and then uses his extra attack to have the echo make an attack. If that were the case, personally, I would give the echo advantage on the roll.
this is way to strong and i think it is a bad idea
while what you are proposing makes "sense" if you want to use logic to put advantage somewhere, but 5e rules do not support it. There are lots of other things where it would make "sense" that you get advantage somehow, but rules exist for balance reasons, not to have everything make sense.
the closest would be the variant franking rule and you could homebrew add a "the echo is considered a creature for the purposes of flanking" somewhere, but honestly normal flanking rules are already overpowered in my opinion, and invalidate so many class features that could be used to grant advantage
also echo knight is already strong, it doesnt need free advantage all the time
Even the flanking rules specify it must be a creature, and the echo is not a creature. It is an object. You do not, and will not, get free flanking from the echo with the rules as written.
