My wizard has "Feather Fall" in their spell book but I wasn't able to add a feather to the component pouch in DDB. Is it assumed that the component pouch has all required items already included? Same for the firefly for "Light".
Related question: how can I assign the Quarterstaff to be a spell casting focus in DDB?
If a spell doesn’t consume its materials and doesn’t specify a cost for them, a spellcaster can use a Component Pouch(see chapter 6) instead of providing the materials specified in the spell, or the spellcaster can substitute a Spellcasting Focus if the caster has a feature that allows that substitution. To use a Component Pouch, you must have a hand free to reach into it, and to use a Spellcasting Focus, you must hold it unless its description says otherwise (see chapter 6 for descriptions).
The assumption is that a component pouch contains all the everyday components you need, and that you topped it up appropriately at some point.
You also don't assign an item as a focus. If you have one, and your hands are not otherwise occupied, you're using the focus to cast.
(Note that an arcane focus staff is more expensive than a plain old quarterstaff, even though it serves as one.)
The component pouch has all items, unless they have a gold piece value specified in the spell description. Even the firefly for light. If a component specifies a gold piece cost, then that is not in the pouch and must be bought specially. And in that case, also make sure to read it carefully. Sometimes it says the spell consumes the component, sometimes not.
If you have this issue for other items, you can simply add a bag and customize the name to anything you wish. My high level sorcerer had one for Trinkets, Spell Components, Worn Items...you can use them however you wish. Currently I'm using a renamed backpack for Saddlebags.
It's a pouch that's got functionally infinite of any component that doesn't have a cost listed. If you take away the "is full of components" aspect then it's just a pouch and will make for a LOT of bookkeeping for your casters. Or they'll just pick up a focus and be done with it https://100001****/
It has all material components for spells except ones that have a specified price. If a component has a specified price you actually need to buy it. You can also use an arcane focus to do the same thing, but component pouches add a cool flair imo.

The spellcasting rules say:

Thank you! Great help!
