If I have my gunslinger fighter multiclass into an arcane trickster rogue, would the rules for multi-classed spell casters apply despite the arcane trickster being a quarter caster? I want to know.
And, yes, my gunslinger is about to invent suppressors/silencers. Don't worry.
I'm doing this because my party's rogue got killed and was replaced by a cleric.
The multi-classing requirements and rules for spell slot calculation apply as normal. So at Rogue level three+, the Arcane Trickster subclass would accrue spells and slots as normal, and would only be impacted if you classed into another caster.

Thanks for letting me know. Also, I just realized that me using violent shot and sneak attack damage at the same time could be really powerful. The BBEGs are gonna die! Especially if I'm using Bad News, which does 2d12 damage.
Yeah, plus you’d have to wait 3 levels to even get the spells in the first place. But multiclassing into rogue wouldn’t be the worst thing 2-5 levels will get you some awesome abilities that obviously go well with a fighter.
but if you just want proficiency with thieves tools I believe the skilled feat could take care of that.

I am thinking of eventually selecting the prodigy (human, half-elf, half-orc) racial feat, as well. Probably going to add deception as the skill so I can lie my way out of situations.

multiclass rules only apply to the class, not the subclass. you're good.
