I ran Frozen Sick for my players as a start up campaign, now going into the next campaign they got the white dragon egg on the random event table. Its really cool and I really want to keep it, but I have a problem. First of all I know white dragons are neutral evil and I have a plan for that. My real problem is the aging, I want the dragon to be useful before my players die. What should I do? I have a home-brew Stone Golem Monk, and a Water Genasi Druid. The campaign is taking place in a home-brew world and I don't know what to do. My problem isn't the dragon its the aging of the dragon, what should I do about that.
When the egg hatches, it'll be a White Dragon Wyrmling. At 32 HP, AC 16 it'll be on par with ~lv5 characters. The 1d10+2 & 1d4 bite attack is fairly strong, but the 5d8 breath weapon will lay waste to enemies. Wyrmlings are able to protect themselves shortly after being born, so after a few days of in-game time it'll be able to help the party.
Edited, because apparently I rolled low on my IRL INT.
Forget the time line manipulation stuff. Use spells to directly age the dragon. Far more fun to role play a todler dragon mind in the body of an older dragon.

A WIS score of 10 means it's as smart as an average human (although apparently dogs are smarter? Mastiff has a WIS 12).
For how smart something is we look at the Intelligence score. Wisdom is generally how perceptive something is.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but they're actually chaotic evil.

Evil parties are fun. As a DM you get to throw good monsters at them. 😈
Stolen egg- instead of just having it dissapear, make it clear that certain powerful parties intend to deprive them of the egg. I use this when players get magic items too powerful (i.e. not level appropriate) for them. If they don't hide it well, SOMEONE will come after it.
In past editions white dragons intelligence was on par with beasts, 5e pumped their int on par with a (low avg) human. So as an NPC, the wyrmling will be more a baby than a puppy. (O.K., whose turn is it to change the dragon.)
Breath weapon: number of ways you can nerf this. Since it's not being raised by dragons it doesn't have anyone to teach it how to breath cold. Or, you could just drop the dmg to that of a dragonborn. Or you could just give it a really tough recharge, like only recharges on a roll of 20. (The baby dragon burps & ices the whole camp so they don't have the breath weap available when the goody-goodies or frost giants attack.)
As a DM, there's a LOT of fun you could have with this.
Once the drac hits juvenile the problems only get worse. "You can't tell me what to do, you're not my mom!"
By young adult, if it hasn't killed the party already, a dragon will leave them behind to establish its own lair someplace nice and cold.
Another option is to have the players sucked into a vortex that spits them out into the future, where they meet a helpful white dragon who remembers his (or her) wierd two legged parents.
Also, the dragon doesn't need to be evil or low intellect. You should decide what works best for the campaign.

Wildemount introduced Chronomancy as time manipulating magic. Maybe some crazy wizard offers them to fast forward time for their pet dragon?
Dragon could end up in a dimension in which time moves differently, and then return or something.
WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
What concerns do you have about it being useful?

Thank you guys a ton and such a quick response :) found a lot of good ideas here and I very much appreciate it, THANKS!
Ya, thanks for the correction on the alignment.
