After acquiring a phoera companion in Neverwinter, I researched what they are, and I discovered the phoelarch. They seem balanced and nothing about them seems world specific, so I am wondering if they should be added as an optional race. I know they could be homebrewed in, but as they are already established, why not add them as a global option?
Ah, too bad. The phoenix is an iconic fantasy creature that even those not into fantasy gaming easily recognize. It's a shame they aren't represented in the game. Not counting the actual phoenix, which may or may not be represented in a campaign, and is typically more rare than a lawful good ancient black dragon monk.
So... I saw a Nerd Immersion video that just came out reviewing a Phoenix Domain Cleric. Nice coincidence. The phoenix has always been one of my favorite creatures from D&D and myth in general. It would be great if Wizard's showed them more love.
Also, because it is overpowered, despite what you think. Burning Flame (+Cha mod in fire to weapon attacks) is a huge boost, particularly for a Warlock or Bards. Combine with Lifedrinker and a Warlock with 20 charisma does weapon+10 damage.
First off, I was trying to use sarcastic humor, as in black dragons AREN'T good, that's the point of saying 'rare as...'. Second, I thought the point of 'home brew' is to post NON-OFFICIAL content. Thirdly, I thought Neverwinter Online WAS official content, as it is made by Wizards. Finally, the 'coincidence' is that there was other phoenix content recently posted. Not only are people here without humor, but closed minded as well. Just forget I posted anything.

Apparently I was mistaken. Not only are people here without humor, but closed minded as well. Just forget I posted anything.
You should bear in mind sarcasm doesn't convey well in text, people will generally take you at your word when posting here. Also, this isn't the homebrew subforum, this is General Discussion, ergo the assumption isn't that homebrew is being discussed unless you say so. What you posted sounded as if you thought it was official content, because clarity got lost in the text.

Reality is that which we perceive it to be.
Because rules for them do not officially exist for the current edition of D&D, which is what D&D Beyond supports

There is a phoenix monster in the rules, found in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes.
Also black dragons aren't good aligned, they're typically evil aligned like all chromatic dragons

That's homebrew made by Lauren of DDB, completely unofficial, not at all associated with WotC.
Also not really a "coincidence", I replied over two months ago.
