So at level 6 I’ve taken 5 abj wiz, and 1 war cleric. I’m playing a Tortle natural 17 ac. So with shield I get plus 5 ac, shield of faith plus 2 ac, a shield plus 2 ac, and withdrawal in shell a plus 4 ac. So 17+5+2+2+4=30ac. Is this a good character??? I can’t wait to get spiritual weapon and animate object to replace shield of faith, withdrawal after spell, and just have my objects/spiritual weapon, do my work for me. Right now I use my find familiar (tiny spider) ride on my mage hand, with dragons breath. Do my attacking! Lol. So any thoughts to improve or maybe something I’m doing wrong? I was just wondering?
shield can only be cast when you get hit (or something like that) by magic missile

REMEMBER: Wizards Of The Coast does not own DDB, they are two different companies. When you buy a physical book, WotC receives the money you bought it for, not DDB and vice versa. If you want a digital key to get an online book for free because you have the hardcopy book then DDB makes no money because you don't buy off DDB you buy off WotC, so please stop making threads about this issue. DDB needs money to continue helping people and servers aren't cheap.
The only action you take while inside the shell is a bonus action to emerge. This would prevent you from moving and attacking with Spiritual Weapon from inside the shell. The same restriction would also prevent you from commanding objects via the Animate Object spell.
Tiny familiar riding mage hand? Maybe, as long as you can see it. Line of Sight is not required for mage hand, but getting it where you want it to go could present problems. Seeing through the familiar's senses is an action. Since a strait Wizard only gets 1 action a round, you can't cast (an action) on the same round you see through it's senses. Dragon's Breath does not require line of sight, but it does require concentration.
Long story short: a DM could have your dragon's Breath go anywhere, regardless of your intention, including roasting you with your own spell.
Dragon's Breath would still require your concentration though, even if you aren't taking the action yourself, so unfortunately it would still conflict with Shield of Faith.
EDIT: No problem! The VAST majority of folks here are happy to help out.
As for the dragons breath since I had the spell and a ring I talked my dm into letting me make a ring of dragons breath with 1d4 uses a day. That is attached to my spider. And no attuning needed. It gets 1d4 -1 charge at the end of the day.
Seeing as it isn't in any published material yes, it would be, especially considering that it casts a fairly strong spell like Dragon's Breath without having any of the drawbacks of similar items such as attunement or a 1 in 20 chance of being destroyed (which admittedly is a stupid idea, but it is a common feature in many published items similar to this one, sooo...)

Yeah shield is a reaction, shield of faith is an action/ concentration.

The same restriction would also prevent you from commanding objects via the Animate Object spell. Also, not positive, but I believe your normal Shield can not be wielded while in Shell Defense, unless it is animated/dancing.
In addition, while in shell, you are prone, which gives people advantage on attacking you with a melee weapon. Honestly, Shell Defense really SUCKS.
Yes but wouldn’t you be able to give it a command before you go into shell defense?
Okay so shell defense does kinda suck but what about a 26 ac wizard? That’s still good right at level 6?
Yes. Most of the high Wizard AC builds revolve around magic items (Bracers of Defense, Staff, etc.)
Yeah I was just talking to my dm about the bracers of defense and trying to find Magus Hardshell( my tortle wizard) a pair in game.
I dont see how you get ac 26.

How are you using Dragon's Breath and Shield of Faith at the same time? They're both concentration.

The familiar attacks on its own. With the dragons breath. Natural 17ac, shield spell +5, shield of faith +2, a shield +2??
I would also like to say thank you to all of you for helping make my character better. It’s always best to see through multiple points of view!

That was actually a whole other post I did a few weeks ago about if familiars could use magic items???
Ah, okay, so it's homebrewed. That makes more sense then.
I mean making a magic wand or ring from a spell that already exists. Would that really be considered home brew??
