Currently at St 12, Dex 18, con 13, int 10, Wis 16, Cha 12. Varient human with sharpshooter feat. Trying to stick to this crossbow theme I got going (regular not hand). I'm at lvl three and deciding whether to pick an archetype or multiclass (likely fighter for archery and heavy crossbow). As far as archetypes go scout seems to gel the most but doesn't seem to get good until 13. Any thoughts on how to build a regular crossbow using rogue?
Scout and thief both have features useful to ranged rogues. Mastermind or inquisitive may be a good choice depending on the importance of social encounters.
Battle master fighter or Gloomstalker ranger are good multiclasses. Both get you medium armor and martial weapons. The ranger also gets you an extra skill. If you go to level 5 with either of these classes, make sure to pick up crossbow expert before getting extra attack.
Hexblade warlock will also get you medium armor and martial weapons and you can get the devil's sight invocation to see in normal amd magical darkness. At level 3 you can learn the darkness and get a pact boon.

If you were really looking for the archery fighting style I would go with the ranger Gloomstalker build because spells are always nice to have.
If you don't mind missing out on the +2 I would personally go Hexblade Warlock.
