Basically, he tried to go to a prestige arcane college, but they simply laughed him out and then as a parting gift they Feebleminded his brother (they say it's self defense, but it was really a display of power). Ever since then, he has a burning hatred for wizards, like he actively hunts them and specializes in killing them. His hatred and zeal is noticed by a deity who takes pity on him, or agrees with his cause (perhaps for their own purposes).
What would be the best way to go about this? Without multiclassing of course!
I originally was thinking of Trickery Domain, because their spell list is crazy good (dimension door & polymorph, OMG!) and goes with the whole "revolutionist" feel, but Arcana Cleric is also very flavorful.
I'd say Arcana Cleric is the way to go, with that background (which doesn't say revolutionist to me). Spell Breaker and Arcane Master (if you make it to level 17) also fit in well. The Mage Slayer feat would be useful, and probably also Metamagic Adept. I'd also try and put points into CHA/persuasion, for those cases where you run into people who don't agree that all wizards need to die. Also, there aren't any ways for clerics to get access to Counterspell easily. You can get a ring of spell storing, or a ring of spell turning, or a rod of absorption, but it's not the same as flat-out having access to Counterspell.
