I find their abstract heraldry anachronistic and confusing.
It can't really be anachronistic as D&D isn't a historical setting.
The elements represent treasure found in the region, a local river and mountain, and the snow of the region. All the heraldries follow this similar, simple and abstract style

I read what it represents, man. C'mon. The reason I find it confusing is that I'm pretty sure you could give that description to four different heralds who have never seen the actual coat of arms before and get at least three different renderings, which is what you don't want. "A horizontal blue band extending to the left under the circle" isn't something I'd draw the way the crest has it. And using two completely distinct shades of blue and describing them each as "blue" is just asking for misunderstandings.

Man, I had no issues with the heraldry but now I'm definitely going to hear Kenny G whenever I see this.
