Unlike Xanathar's Guide to Everything and Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, which has illustrations for each of the different subclasses, the Player's Handbook only has one illustration for each individual class. As much as I would love to see the PHB subclasses (and the SCAG subclasses that haven't been reprinted) getting the same treatment, it's very unlike that will ever happen. This had me wondering something though: What are the subclasses of those illustrated characters?
If I had to take a guess, they would probably be the ones available in the Basic Rules, but what do you all think?
Barbarian: Probably Path of the Berserker, as a totem warrior would have totems. Bard: Seems more like College of Valor to me, but I'm not certain. Cleric: Maybe War Domain? Druid: I'm guessing Circle of the Moon, though I honestly have no idea. Fighter: I'm thinking Champion, but there's really no way to tell. Monk: It seems to fit better with Way of the Open Hand than the other two. Paladin: Possibly Oath of Devotion, definitely not Oath of the Ancients, and probably not Oath of Vengeance. Ranger: Well, there's no animal companion, so it's definitely Hunter. Rogue: Looks like an Assassin to me. Sorcerer: Doesn't seem to be Draconic Bloodline, so maybe Wild Magic? Warlock: Great Old One, no question. Wizard: I'm going to go with Abjuration (since it's always shown as blue), but again, there's really no way to be sure.
