How are the new features from Tasha's like customizing your origin and changing skills, going to work in the character builder?
I can see the class feature variants being their own dropdown now, and if you don't own the variants, it doesn't list options.
But things like customizing your origins and changing base ability scores to better suit your character are more of a change to the base rules. If I own Tashas do I get an additional option to move things in the character builder, or because it is a base rule change, will it be rolled out for everyone regardless if they own the book?
No one knows yet. DDB hasn't said a word on the subject.
Many people are expecting most of these features to be nonfunctional when the book releases, and for it to take several more months before they're implemented in a way more effective than the 'Homebrew Feat/Edit Your Sheet' workaround kludges people have traditionally had to use to implement "nonstandard" features. Keep this in mind when deciding whether you wish to preorder Tasha's Cauldron, or purchase it at all.
That's sort of it, I would buy it if I knew i needed it to use those features, and id preorder to get the dice, but if you don't need them, or worse I buy and they aren't available, it's disappointing
I'm guessing a toggle or series of toggles. They have to maintain the current system for all the entry products that don't address Tasha's options. After release, I could see them going piecemeal where someone could only buy the features they wanted to add to their game.
I don't know how big they are, but they could be a snag about making the lineage/race features an automatic toggle with Adventurers' League as I understand that rule is now part of AL play without the +1.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
I would think there would be a toggle for races and another for class feature variants other then that not really sure and of course this is conjecture only.

Hopefully not at all, but that's me. I hope it's some sort of toggle, I don't want it messing up the current builder.
