Hi everybody, as the title says I’m looking (hoping actually) to know if there’s a way to play via smartphone, I don’t own a computer, and won’t be getting any time soon sadly so I’m hoping there’s a way, I’m new to D&D, never played before and I wish to now, thanks in advance, happy holidays.

Have you seen a D&D game being played before? If you have never seen a D&D game being played before, I recommend watching a gaming session of D&D first to get an idea of what D&D is. Here is a video of what you call a session zero in D&D, and the next video is the first gameplay session. Session zero is basically an orientation session where everyone makes their characters and discuss expectations.
D&D is more akin to a board game than a videogame, and it certainly does not require any sort of electronic devices. All you really need is the Basic Rules, pencil (and eraser), and paper. That said, I have never played D&D using a pen and paper, and I have always used D&D Beyond on my computer or phone to keep track of things. Using Beyond to keep track of things is definitely a lot easier. You do not need a computer or a big tablet unless you are the gamemaster, and even then, gamemasters can go without it. At the table, what players really need is just something to keep track of things, whether it is via phone browser or via pen and paper. You can create a character sheet and keep track of it right here on this website.
I do NOT recommend spending any money on D&D until you have completely finished at least 1 or 2 campaigns first. There is enough free official content out there to help you gauge whether D&D is a game you will enjoy, and whether it is worth spending any money on. There is also a ton of free unofficial content out there, so you do not have to spend a dime on D&D if you do not want to. If you must spend money and cannot resist temptation, I recommend purchasing the physical boxed version of the D&D Essentials Kit.
