My friend had an idea earlier about physical digital dice, kind of like how we have digital watches... I tried looking it up but the wording probably wasn't good enough to invoke a result. The whole idea is that the dice would have screens on each side with numbers (his original idea was that it would detect when it's being rolled and all of the screens would cycle through a random number all at the same time however this seems a bit too cool to actually exist).
Does anyone know where I could find something similar or even if this thing even exists? Would love to know some opinions on this too, it seems very possible https://nox.tips/
I guess a potential benefit would be the option to program different symbols or whatever on the faces to accommodate dice from systems that use symbols instead of numbers? Could also have some sort of interactive setup where it shows an animation on a crit (and you can program it to register multiple numbers as crits). I can think of a number of different uses, but I can't help but think the cost would outweigh the benefit. And then you roll it off the table accidentally and crunch, there goes your expensive electronic die.

I have an image in my mind of 6 apple watch faces in a cube here! I can't see the benefit of this over a normal dice?

This seems just as a way to produce more totally unnecessary e-waste tbh.
