I've recently been thinking about liches and whether or not they could "reincarnate" into a cloned body.
To become a lich one must come across a formula/ritual that will result in their soul becoming bound to their chosen phylactery. (usually a small box, large enough to contain various runes/script.)
A clone is a grown vessel of the selected individual, which is able to house the individual's soul should it be free and willing; "At any time after the clone matures, if the original creature dies, its soul transfers to the clone, provided that the soul is free and willing to return."
So i'm wondering about what would happen if a Lich's phylactery was destroyed. Would the soul burn/move on/be collected/go free?
This could be a solid backup plan for any Lich if it works. Though they'd only get one chance- as a clone requires "at least 1 cubic inch of flesh of the creature that is to be cloned, which the spell consumes", and i'm pretty sure a Lich's body is made out of magic soul mist or something. The reason they only get one chance- "It remains inert and endures indefinitely, as long as its vessel remains undisturbed.", so if the clone is disturbed they are left without a way to create a new clone. (Assuming they did not freeze some extra flesh cubes).

Also, if anyone could tell me how to do the pop-up spell pages that'd be great.

I forgot that becoming a Lich usually taints the soul.
Interesting ideas for plot points and mechanics as well.
I suppose that aside from a wish spell, a Lich might also be able to call in some favours. What's a tainted soul to a God/Devil/dedicated *******?
