In a sessoin, a girl gets bitten by a vampire, get killed by villagers, resurrected (with homebrew DM rules) as a lich by her father - would a wooden stake have any effect (including fatal) on her?
My two cents: this is a decision for the DM to make. Both are undead, so you could use the rule that the vampire stake still applies. Liches aren't usually resurrected however, they typically (more or less) pass into undeath on their own, but unless the homebrew stated otherwise, the girl - as a lich - would need to have a phylactery. Even if her body were destroyed by a stake through the heart, the phylactery must still be destroyed. From the Monster Manual:
Within days, a new body reforms next to the lich’s phylactery, coalescing out of glowing smoke that issues from the device.
By the rules, vampires have the "wooden stake through the heart" weakness° but liches don't. Liches are also immune to non-magical piercing (and bludgeoning and slashing) damage (vampires have resistance, not outright immunity). So, if the DM sticks to the official material a mundane wooden stake is completely pointless (really bad pun, I know). Homebrew though, who knows?
° this comes with a bunch of caveats btw - it's not fatal, for one

Staking vampires works because they have a specific vulnerability to being staked. Liches have no such vulnerability.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Thank you so much for this! Question answered and my DM is v happy with it! :)))
