I'm brand new to this forum thing - but hopefully can get some advice or answers. Right now I'm on my first campaign where all my players are on DnD beyond. I've ran off char sheets for years. I love beyond (especially the new encounter builder) and I really really love the actions section of the sheets. I have 3 new players and having all the actions available to them in combat is amazing for teaching someone new. One drawback though - I can't seem to figure out why spells don't show up there. I see it on one player's sheet and a char sheet I whipped up myself for grins. I can see all my spells in the spells list - and I see a spell section in the Actions tab, but not all the spells are there. In fact only one or two are there and it seems really arbitrary.
I think all the spells on the action tab are damage dealing spells, but players can view all their spells in the spells tab, which allows you to cast at higher slots and keeps track of how many spell slots you have.
for example, i will never use purify food and drink in combat, so its not listed as a combat action.
You can go into the spells tab and select a spell and customise it to display as an attack, so you can put any spell you would use in combat. I think they keep them separate to manage upcasting and spell slots but i am not 100%

That makes sense - when I went to one of the players it looked like that's how the spells were set up, but when I went to my War Priest Sacred Flame and Bless were missing off the actions list. One has a damage tag (so should be there?) the other has a buff tag so maybe it wouldn't be by default. However, I didn't see where I could check/click to enable a given spell to be in that actions list. I will too ask said player I check (happens to be the one experienced player and he may have done something to his list).
If you click on a spell in the spells tab, there should be a bar that say customize. When you click on it, there should be stuff for changing your modifiers. There should also be a box that says display as attack. Clicking on that should make it show up in the actions tab.

I will protect those I hate. Even ... even if the one I hate most ... is ... myself.

If you go to spells, then click on a spell (so you can see its description) then there should be a customise button, if you click that then some options appear, check the box with 'display as attack'.

Spells display as an attack if they require an attack roll. Spells that require a saving throw are the ones that need you to customize in order to show up on the attack list.
As Sacred Flame has a Saving Throw, it is using a different mechanic than the "attack" spells... like, say Eldritch Blast or Guiding Bolt. That's why they don't automatically show up. The ones that show up in the Action list with your weapons are the pure attack spells (no saving throw, no concentration, just roll to hit).

What is the mechanic behind this?
Thanks!

Got it! Thank you so much! =)
