I have a magic lance I am designing as a Homebrew Item that has the following in its description:
When you hit a dragon with this weapon, the dragon takes an extra 1d12 points of piercing damage for every point of Constitution Score Ability Modifier of either the wielder or the wielder's mount (minimum 1d12).
I know there is no way in DnDBeyond to tie a weapon's damage value to a mount's CON modifier, but is there a way to do tie it the wielder's CON modifier?
My fuzzy logic... getting hit with a lance is less about strength than it is about the mass behind the lance. Force = Mass X Speed. I felt this would be best represented by your CON score.
Fair enough
Well, it is a VERY RARE item. Additionally, I think the "dragonslayer" magic effect for blades is sorta ridiculous... a simple +3d6 extra damage to dragons is a joke. If you're relying on that weapon to slay a dragon, it's going to eat your for lunch. a D12 per CON Score Modifier, however, just might actually threaten a dragon.

"If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around."
1 - Why does it work like that?
2 - I don't think it is possible. Just write it in plain text in the item description.
3 - Sounds OP unless the party is high level.
