I'm working on a custom cantrip. It uses an attack roll and I've gotten it to include the caster's mod (Int) and proficiency bonus. Like most cantrips it does not add the mod to the damage. However, I'd like it to start doing that after a certain level (9th, I think, but I'm still balancing that). So in a way it would work like eldritch blast where the caster gets Agonizing Blast at a certain point.
Is there a way to use At Higher Levels to "activate" adding the mod to the damage?
No, the checkbox that designates whether or not the spellcasting ability modifier gets added to the effect is in the Modifier section where you input the base damage for the cantrip. After that, it’s either there the whole time or never gonna be.
Just saying, cantrips don’t scale at 9th level. They scale at 5th, 11th, and 17th. Scaling it at other times (that are innate to the cantrip itself, not associated abilities like Agonizing Blast) might have some unintended consequences, especially if the modification is fairly powerful, such as adding your spellcasting modifier.
I'm balancing it for that, no worries. And if it turns out to be unbalancing in play, I'll adjust. I'm just trying to figure out how to do it in DnDBeyond, but it looks like I can't right now.

Ok, I suppose when the PC hits 9th I can either customize it on their sheet, or update the cantrip itself.
Thanks!
