I've recently updated one of the races I've made that had a number of associated variants. After I hit the save button, all of the variants disappeared from the listing on the base race homebrew builder page. I don't see a way to re-add them to the base race. Is this something I can fix?
Unfortunately this is an issue that many people have, the only solution is to make the variants/subraces again and try to get the original ones taken down.
I mean, was I supposed to anticipate they'd make those changes before another edition was made, and never publish anything in fear that the style guide may change?
I have no idea as to what changes you are referring. But all I know is I don’t publish anything anymore unless I’m either 1,000% sure it’s perfect (in which case I don’t give a fig about who all changes whatever else, it’s perfect to me.) or if it’s something I don’t really care enough about to want to fix it. I’ve had to republish to much too many times and has stuff like this kick me in the dangly bits for it….

The changes I mentioned above. I had a standard race with a few variants. Post-TCoE the standard race format has changed. It no longer includes a section on alignment, no longer features fixed ASIs, spends much less time talking about size, and adds a section on creature type. I also added an optional feature, which I couldn't do pre-TCoE. It's minor stuff, but I like to keep my brews current. Otherwise the brew satisfied me.
Yeah, adding an option is a thing. But honestly, the rest I don’t worry about. (They can do the ASI thing themselves, ignore alignment themselves, and how much could you have said about size?!?

Hey, you've talked about OCD tendencies on these forums as well... this is my concession.

Hi all,

Come participate in the Competition of the Finest Brews, Edition XXVIII?
My homebrew stuff:
Spells, Monsters, Magic Items, Feats, Subclasses.
I am an Archfey, but nobody seems to notice.

Wow, that blows. Thanks for your help!
That is why it is always best practice to not publish anything until after all playtesting and editing has concluded.

That wasn't really the issue. I make brews, then update them when WotC changes their style. So I removed the alignment, fixed ASIs, etc.
Bit ya in the ass this time though didn’t it?
