Been awhile since I've checked in with anything that I've been working on. Right now, I've decided that I ought to try to updated/revise one of my older homebrews (along with also play testing my plague doctor artificer). In short, the Wandslinger subclass is based around using cantrips and arcane focuses. I think that I have the flavor down, but I'm curious on what you guys think about the this current iteration of this subclass.
The term Wandslinger refers to any individual who can cast even the simplest of cantrips. If a wizard specializes in the Wandslinger Tradition, they're an individual who would rather than focus on using cantrips, and arcane focuses, instead of relying on a singular school of magic. Wandslingers are known for the speed in which they are able to cast spells, relying on releasing a torrent of cantrips instead of casting a single large spell.
Cantrip Specialist
2nd-level Wandslinger feature
You learn two cantrips from the wizard spell list. These cantrips doesn't count against your number of cantrips known.
Wandslinger's Focus
2nd-level Wandslinger feature
You've gained the ability to imbue an arcane focus with your magic. You can spend 1 hour to empower an arcane focus, turning it into an Wandslinger's Focus. When you create a Wandslinger's Focus or you finish a long rest, you can choose a 1st-level spell from your spellbook to infuse into your Wandslinger's Focus. The focus has a number of charges equal to your proficiency bonus. As an action, expend 1 or more charges to cast the chosen spell. You can increase the spell slot level by one for each additional charge you expend. You can only create one Wandslinger's focus per long rest, and if you create a new Wandslinger's Focus, the previous one is no longer empowered by your magic.
You are also adept at crafting certain arcane spellcasting focuses, which are described in the Adventuring Gear section of the Player's Handbook. The gold and time you must spend to make an arcane focus is halved.
Fluid Casting
6th-level Wandslinger feature
When you use your action to cast a cantrip, you can cast a different cantrip with a casting time of 1 action as a bonus action.
Focus Recovery
10th-level Wandslinger feature
Once per day when you finish a short or long rest, choose one arcane focus that has charges, the item regains 1d4 charges. You must be in possession of the item for it to regain charges.
You also ignore all class, race, and level requirements on attuning to or using a magic item that can be used as an arcane focus.
Rapid Spellcasting
14th-level Wandslinger feature
When you expend a spell slot to cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you can cast a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action as a bonus action.
I do love the feeling of that subclass, it appeals to me as a crafty wizard, almost artificer-like, but focused on magic with its wand and its ability to change and quicken spell! I just have one question:
Focus Recovery. The feature state "choose one arcane focus that has charges" that of course work with wandslinger's focus, but does it work with other magic items?

the intent is for both. The more I thought about it, I realized I should've clarified on that point.
Does the wandslingers focus recover charges on it's own, or do you need to make/remake it to recharge it every time?
Thought about that mate, I got you. "When you create a Wandslinger's Focus or you finish a long rest, you can choose a 1st-level spell from your spellbook to infuse into your Wandslinger's Focus."

Here's the previous version of the subclass, which it is definitely obvious (at the least to me) that this is one of my older subclasses.

Overall I really like this! It's a very basic wizard subclass which is good for newer players! :D
