i wanted something for a bard but the Instruments of the Bards are OP early in the campaign and would come in too late if I tried to balance it
i’m considering a watered down version, making this lute available. Stored spells are cast at L2
How does it look? Is the overcome charm immunity broken? I want something that provides some use at lower levels (cast a spell once per day) but might level okay. sleep & charm becoming less useful later - but being able to overcome charm immunity
be honest!
And when to make this available? L3, L4?
Moonsilver’s Lullaby
Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement by a Bard, Lute Proficiency)
Mintiper Moornsilver, legendary half-elf bard of the North travelled far and wide, but it is not know how or where he aquired this simple but lovely example of a lute. In later years he could sometimes be found casually strolling through dungeons while softly playing the instrument.
While attuned to this device, you have a +1 bonus to Charisma saving throws, and you have advantage on Charisma (Performance, Persuasion) checks while playing the instrument.
You can use an action to play the instrument and cast one of its stored spells: Charm Person, Sleep, Calm Emotions, Enthrall without any material components and without expending a spell slot. Once the instrument has been used to cast a stored spell, you can’t use this property again until you finish a long rest.
The spells use your spellcasting ability and spell save DC.
Playing the instrument while casting a spell that causes any of its targets to be charmed on a failed saving throw, imposes disadvantage on the save. This effect applies only if the spell has a somatic or a material component.
In addition while playing Moonsilver's Lullaby, with the exception of Constructs and Undead, any creatures within 30 feet that can hear the music played on the lute no longer have immunity to the charmed condition. If a creature normally immune to charm, is charmed while the lute is being played, the Bard must use their subsequent Actions to continuously play Moonsilver's Lullaby or the spell fails and the effects end for the creature. The creature is then immune to the effects of the lute for the next 24 hours.

no takers?
I suppose the general nature of the review was too broad.
anyone have a comment on a magic item overcomming Immunity to Charm?
