Heya folks- as the thread title implies, for a subclass i'm making, I would like for the PC to be able to add half of their proficiency bonus to the attack rolls of certain weapons, in addition to adding their proficiency bonus as normal. The current half proficiency option allows you to add proficiency if you don't already have proficiency ala Bard's "Jack of all Trades", which is not what i'm looking for. Is there any way for me to get this to work?
I'm aware that there isn't really a precedent for this, so I suspect the answer is "no", but I figured I would ask nonetheless.

This would be illegal. You can only add your proficiency bonus once to any given roll.
Within the realm of legal rules, you could multiply the character's pb by 1.5 when determining the hit modifier of an attack roll.

I see what you're getting at, but I have considered that. I didn't include the exact wording because I didn't feel it would be relevant, but it reads: "You may add a value equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounding up) to attack rolls made with..." etc etc. So it's not actually adding half your prof bonus again. A technicality, yes, but it gets around that issue at least.

Half-proficiency is only used in the context of ability checks. There is currently no way to add bonus half-proficiency to weapon attack rolls.

Alas, this is what I expected to hear; a shame, but I suppose people will have to do the maths the old fashioned way. Thank you anyway!
