One thing that has bothered me about 5e for some time is ritual spells that become just part of a party's routine. The druid casts water breathing on everyone first thing in the morning. the wizard leomund's tiny hut for every rest, identify, detect magic get used constantly, etc. I am thinking about this relatively simple change.
A spell cast as a ritual requires concentration for its entire duration. For a lot of ritual spells, this would not be a severe limitation, since they have instantaneous or concentration durations. But for some, it would definitely encourage people to use the spell slot rather than do the ritual unless it was a dire situation.
Thoughts?
