I created a race for one of my players that wanted to play a Groot type character. I used Warforged as a basis for the Race and copied in the Envoy subclass racial traits +options/modifiers for her integrated tool and languages.
While adapting the Integrated Protection features, I copied the Options and Modifiers exactly, so her natural AC is 16 (inherent 10 +6 unarmoured bonus) but she should be getting an additional +2 due to Proficiency Bonus if proficicent with Heavy Armor.
When she creates the character and takes the Fighter class (proficient in Heavy Armor), the racial bonuses do not recognize the proficiency and doesn’t add the +2 proficiency bonus.
what am I doing wrong? I’ve copied Warforged and Envoy Subclass traits/options/modifiers to the absolute letter.
The feature can't actually check for armor proficiency when applying unarmored AC (yet) due to coding limitations. It relies on us to tell it if we are proficient. So your problem is actually twofold.
First part, create options for that race feature (one for every armor mode you want it to have + no armors).
Second part, make sure the unarmored AC bonus includes proficiency modifier in race feature.
Thanks for the response. This is my first racial build so I'll thank you for your patience ahead of time :P These are the current modifiers I have in place for the Heavy Plating option. Notice I changed the 6 to an 8, in order to give her the full AC including prof bonus. I'm not quite following your workaround.

Set - Unarmored Armor Class 8
Set - AC Max Dex Modifier 0
Disadvantage - Stealth
Ignore - Unarmored Dex AC Bonus

Set - unarmored armor class - fixed value:6 - additional bonus types:proficiency modifier.
And you can put it all under an option so you can choose between armor proficiency and nonproficient options.
