Been doing some deep diving into the Raven Queen & Lady of Pain in previous edition lore and am interested in creating a warlock PC whose patron is the Lady of Pain. It's a stretch but what isn't in D&D? I thought it would be interesting to make them a Hexblood who's essentially a dabu or phirbla who's been altered for the Lady's purposes. No hovering (unless I change my approach with the build and keep it within existing rules) but I'm trying to figure out how to manage the mutism. They can clearly communicate in social interactions (unless it's with someone who can't read or see) so I have no plans to go out of my way to impose unnecessary RP restrictions upon myself as one who hasn't experienced such a condition (for the most part this will be fluff). My main concern is verbal components for spells. The PHB states that verbal components aren't necessarily words so I can imagine a scenario in which whistles (Marvel's Yondu?), mouth sounds, snaps, claps, etc. could make it work. I just want to try to anticipate issues with rules. Any thoughts?
