Hello im trying to figure out a things that im having trouble with iv tried to find youtube vids and other things to help but it just isn't what I need. the quick question is does any one know any in-depth tutorials for dnd beyond. and iv tried the method of making a item like a item that already exist to see how dndbeyond made it but that didnt work i did it the same way they did and it says the spell is at will instead of once per long rest
As for the specific answer to your specific question, here goes. Where you attached the spell to the feat, you must enter a value of 1 in the field labeled “number of uses,” that will restrict it to a single use per long rest. After that, you MUST re-save the entire feat using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information or the system won’t pick up your changes. For additional information, please see the General Homebrew FAQ (linked above) #s 6 & 6-B.

If you copied an existing item with a single use per long rest spell on it, and you definitely only changed the spell, then is the spell a cantrip? Currently only spells of 1st-level or higher can have limited uses set on them (such that the "Use" button appears where it would normally say "Cast" or "At Will"); if you want an item with a single use cantrip it will need to be described and you'll need either the player(s) to remember or to remind them, though you could use an item charge to help them keep track of it.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
is there a guide that shows how to do stuff like [ magic missile ] and then it comes up as a clickable or hover over thing that shows what magic missile does
Yes. Those are called “tooltips.” If you follow that same link to the FAQ from my previous post and look at the General FAQ #4, there’s a link there that will teach you all about tooltips. Basically, that FAQ I linked has at least 80% of the answers you’re probably gonna ask for.

The most comprehensive resource for homebrewing on DDB can’t be found here: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq). It has links to all of the other resources that are available, and answers most of the most common questions people have asked over the years.

I hope that helps.
