So I'm thinking of designing a couple of Intelligence-based classes, because Wizard is the only official one that isn't a subclass, and I found Artificer underwhelming and Mystic was too much of a multitool.
The ideas I have in mind are the following:
Warden
Also called Rune Master - I'm thinking this would be a magical class that revolves around similar sorts of abilities to Glyph of Warding and Symbol, but more flexible. Examples of abilities include placing a rune on which allies can stand and while they're there, enemies have disadvantage to hit them with ranged attacks, or placing a rune where if an enemy stands on it it detonates.
More complex play then comes out of double-purpose runes, like ones that detonate on enemies but buff allies, or runes that combine effects when you arrange them in a certain way (like laying down an arrow shape of one square fire runes could launch all of them in the direction of the arrow or something).

I'm thinking a sort of Environment Control class based around things like Astronomy (or Astrology for that matter) and Natural Sciences, somewhere between a Mastermind Rogue and an Alchemist Artificer. I don't have a clear idea on this yet, but I think it might be more supporty.
Neither idea has any clear direction at this point, but I was thinking others might have some ideas on how they could expand or particular features that would fit well into each.
