Is there a way to create a basic weapons for home brew? I was hoping to add the Monk weapons variations for use in campaign but I don't see an option for basic weapon creation, just magical items.
I've been trying to do this as well. it's proving more difficult than anticipated. I haven't fully cracked the code on it but this is as far as i've got.
You can create a Weapon homebrew with a base weapon of X, then modify the properties of the weapon.
You can add the "replace damage type" modifier (i.e. initial damage type will change from let's say bludgening to slashing). This i find works just fine and as intended
You can add the "weapon property" modifier to the weapon as well (i.e. making the weapon versatile). this "adds" a property to it and doesn't really replace what the initial base of the weapon is.
You can add the "Damage" modifier which adds a damage component but doesn't replace it (i.e. the weapon attack is 1d8 s instead of 1d4 b). This didn't work as well as i'd hoped. It changes the dice roll but only in the notes it seems. I can't seem to "replace" the damage dice with the original base.
That's as far as i've gotten though. I'm curious how other's create basic weapons.
yup, so far I have done the same, not sure why DDB would not either create them or even WotC or give us the same capabilities for normal items as we have for monsters and Magical items.
