ello ello every one whom stumble onto this thread more so those who homebrew or are working with wizards of the coast.
now then like as i name this thread is for what ideas that you guys or girls think will be a fun or new idea for a theme for a sub class in D&D and to share with each other the ideas.
now i don't care if you add "skills" to the sup class theme or just say "a Arctic theme monk" this thread is just for fun that every one can add to or pull from. like say what you guys think of a ice theme Sorcerer sub class like what you think they can do? will they be like the Yuki-onna "snow woman" or something thing else? how about a bard that use shadow puppets for shadow base powers?
feel free to post that you come up with for who knows what some one will come up with that some one wants to try it out in there game.
- Elemental sorcerers (including a replacement storm sorcerer as that one is basically playing without a subclass): It's a tragedy that these didn't make it through UA.
- Celestial ranger: The type of character my DM always wants to play, but it's not well represented. From the playtest it's clear that there is a huge amount of pushback to ranged smites, so maybe going the other way is preferable? Making a ranger themed like a paladin, rather than a paladin themed like a ranger.
- Plant druid: How have we not got a druid themed around plants?
- Swordmage artificer: As 5e refuses to add new classes beyond artificer, and this one is an arcane int based half caster, it's the closest. Artificer also has a lot of power in the subclass, letting you do a huge amount with it. Theme it around creating a magic bonded weapon, and have its 'signature ability' be a big collection of 'strikes' similar to the 'shots' of the arcane archer. As smith's tools are already used twice for artificer, maybe go a bit more exotic. For example glassblowers tools to make a glass facsimile of the weapon you're creating from magic.
