For the past few months I've been working on a homebrew race, the Sphurx. This is the third version of it that I've made. However, I need some help from actual DMs to make sure it isn't overpowered or anything like that.
There's a few things that I should mention so you don't waste your time:
The document is ridiculously large and contains a lot of fluff
This is technically 3 different races that share a common lore. A lot of traits are shared between the races, so if one race’s traits are changed, the others must be changed as well.
I want to avoid changing the lore as much as possible. If it means that the race meshes better into an existing world, then I'm all ears.
I want to focus on refining the current traits instead of removing/adding them.
If you're interested, the document is in the link. This post would be incredibly cluttered if I posted the entirety of it here.
To me, it actually appears quite balanced. I would add a section for general traits that all of them share, and then list each type as a subrace to avoid repetition. Also, races typically get +2 a stat based on their race, and +1 based on the subrace. It looks like all of them have a bonus to CON, so I would change that to a +2 racial feature. There are also a number of issues with standard formatting/phrasing, although I will only go into those if you wish for me to do so.
I would also consider making the spray replace an attack like the dragonborn breath weapon does instead of having it take an action.
I went ahead and made the section and fixed the stat increases. Currently I’m not really worried about grammar or anything, I’ll just put it into grammarly or something later on when I have some free time.
For the spray being an attack, while the breath weapon deals damage, the spray poisons. It’s pretty easy to abuse if you have extra attacks, especially with stuff like grappling and shoving which requires a saving throw, which they now have disadvantage on.
Not to mention the fact that fighter can attack 4 times in an action, meaning that a Spotted Sphurx would be able to do a handstand, spray, and go back to standing in the span of 1.5 seconds, not even counting things like movement. I know that battle time is weird, but that’s a bit ridiculous.

I write homebrew and don't publish it. (evil, I know)
