Some UA feats, like Everybody's Friend, Barbed hide or Squat Nimbleness, grant proficiency in certain skills. And if you already have proficiency in those skills you instead get expertise. Is there any way to make this modifier in the dndbeyond homebrew? I can only see options to straight up give proficiency or expertise
No, this is not possible currently. If you’ll note, none of the official feats actually grant proficiency or expertise if you already have proficiency. They instead grant proficiency in a skill, or a different skill if you already have that skill, or they grant a choice of skills for proficiency, or a choice of skills for twice proficiency, or one of each. You would have to make it as two feats, or instead make it offer both proficiency that skill, and their choice of expertise in any skill they have, and vetc specific instructions in the txt on when to use what.
How do you make it so you apply the "double proficiency bonus" or "expertise" every time I try it just applies a normal proficiency bonus without doubling in any way

Now?
Yeah, right. Development on this site seems to have all but stopped since WotC took over and fired everybody. Don't get your hopes up.

There is a feat that goes grant expertise
http://dnd5e.*******.com/feat:prodigy
I have yet to be able to mimic it in homebrew
Yes, it grants expertise in something you already have. That’s simple:
Modifier: Expertise->Subtype: Choose a Skill
That’s not what this thread was originally asking.

After you add the correct Modifier (as per my above post), you then must re-save the entire homebrew and then give the system time to update. Please see the General Homebrew FAQ #6 for additional information: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq).

It is 2025 and I still see no way to do this even with the 2024 updates :(
