I've been through a lot of this sub, and the forums in general, trying to find my answer(s), and I'm still rather confused.
For years I've wanted to play a gestalt character/campaign, but could never find a group to play with. I finally did, but DDBeyond's rules make it a nightmare on a good day. I've tried to teach myself how to homebrew what I want, but I keep getting confused and forget what I'm doing.
Character: Circle of Wildfire Druid/Fire Sorcery Sorcerer
As of right now I have 3 character sheets: 1. main that I'm trying to incorporate everything into (It's not going as well as I'd hoped) 2. Druid 3. Sorcerer 4. A homebrew wand to mimic the sorcerer spells, but can't track spell usage 5. A homebrew feat that gives the sorcerer subclass features, but no the sorcerer class features
I'd like someone to teach me how to incorporate the below into one subclass: 1. Circle of Wildfire subclass 2. Sorcerer class features/abilities/skills/etc. 3. Fire Sorcery subclass (homebrew reskin of Storm Sorcery)
I'm happy to provide links to my sources if needed.
You'll want to use Circle of Wildfire as your base class & subclass, because many druid things cannot be mimicked with the HB system (mainly WS as well as the Fire Spirit companion).
Then add all the Sorcerer bits using magic items & feats. Sorcerer is a much simpler class than Druid it only has a handful of class features so except for the spellslots it should be possible to do it with feats & items.
HB Feats: 1) Sorcery Points - create an "Action" with a "Special" activation time with limited uses that recharge on a LR, you'll have to edit this every time you level up to scale with your level properly. 2) Metamagics - create a separate feat for each metamagic option with the appropriate description & action, add them to your character as appropriate. 3) Sorcerer Actions - Add actions to this one to mimic various features of Storm Sorcerer that involve actions.
HB Items: 1) Wand of Sorcerer Spellcasting - you can use the "Spell Point" optional system in the DMG to create an item with appropriate charges and your sorcerer spells programmed to expend the appropriate number of charges. 2) Cloak of Sorcerer Abilities - attach your skill, language and saving throw proficiencies to this, as well as your damage resistances/immunities.
I'd gotten that far :) I have the Druid as my base, especially because it has the higher hit dice of the two.
I'm wanting to learn how to incorporate all the sorcerer class features as well as the spell casting. I have figured out how to modify the character sheet directly for saving throws, skills, and some proficiencies.
My dream is to find a way to 100% homebrew a subclass that has both subclasses and sorcerer class features. I can merge the subclasses, but the sorcerer stuff, especially the spellcasting, is what's stopping me.

Thank you for this information!! Between what I'd already figured out and learned on my own from copying existing homebrew, and your suggestions here, I finally managed to make a homebrew subclass that does what I want it to, except the sorcerer's spellcasting. But, my husband has agreed to homebrew that for me. He understands that aspect of homebrewing better than I do. I don't think I'm going to homebrew a gestalt character ever again, but I did it!

Hi all!
I've been through a lot of this sub, and the forums in general, trying to find my answer(s), and I'm still rather confused.

Here is how I would do it:
Class: Druid
Subclass: Wildfire
HB Feats:
1) Sorcery Points - create an "Action" with a "Special" activation time with limited uses that recharge on a LR, you'll have to edit this every time you level up to scale with your level properly.

Oooohhhh! I hadn't thought of some of this. Thank you
