Currently homebrewing a subclass for a Warlock that includes allowing them to cast hex an equal amount of times as their charisma modifier. The issue is that everytime I set it up on Dnd Beyond it sets hex as a level 1 spell, how do I fix it so its cast as the warlocks current spell slots??
That's far enough outside the way normal rules work that I don't think there's any way to do that with the homebrew system.
Generally, you have to actually use a spell slot of the appropriate level to get upcasting benefits; spells cast without using a spell slot are always cast at the minimum level. You can, in theory, have a specific rule in your subclass that overrides that general rule, but D&D Beyond's homebrew system doesn't have support for that.
