I am currently running the Light of Xaryxis adventure for a bunch of friends playing their first D&D campaign. Now that we've reached a decent point in the adventure to take an extended original side story, I want to bring back some old plot strings that weren't resolved. One is the neh-thalggu encountered in LoX chapter 3, which in our campaign managed to sneak aboard the player's ship and eventually onto the Rock of Bral. The players are back on the Rock, and people are dying in mysterious circumstances.
Is this legendary creature suitable for an encounter with 6-7 level 8 players?
It looks a bit weak to me, unless it starts out with an advantage - e.g. it starts the combat already under Greater Invisibility. Or unless it has some minions with it.

Greater Neh-thalguu (Homebrew Link)
There are various hard numbers that still need to be worked out, such as CR and DC levels. Any input is greatly apprieciated.
