I like Sorter's take on it, with your suggested restriction. I might change the stat prerequisites a bit to match my own visions of the abilities, though.

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both" -- allegedly Benjamin Franklin
I actually recommended the benefit of gaining access to 2 Metamagics and 2 Sorcery Points because it matches up to Martial Adept. A Fighter:Battlemaster only has access to 3 moves and gain additional moves at the same rate that the Sorcerer.
This would make the Feat a benefit to both a Sorcerer taking it to increase her pool or as another class giving limited options, just like Martial Adept.
I realize this is an older thread. However, I added this as an option in my game.
Basically the benefit is for a spellcaster to gain 1 metamagic and sorcery points equal to your proficiency bonus.
DMing I would like there to be a in game or roleplayed reason for it such as being taught by a sorcerer, a powerful creature, through a mishap or encounter or even studied.

I like your idea, but I'd say simplify it.
Copy the idea of Martial Adept feat.
so I'd say
Sorcerer Adept
I say give 2 Sorcery Points because the Martial Adept gets to use their feat on an average of 2-3 times to day.
I'd also say make the prerequisite be being a Spell Caster, so that way any caster could use the feat, not just Arcane.

I ran into the same problem with my Arcane Trickster. I ended up creating a magic item for it. Gloves of Mage Hand
