Hey guys (and gals, and whatever else you wanna call yourselves),
I'm fairly new here (and to D&D in general) but I'm trying to make a homebrew subclass and I'm having a few issues. I want to add a feature that will give a character proficiency with a skill if they don't have it or expertise/twice proficiency with the skill if they already do. I'm uncertain how I go about adding in that secondary effect since I don't see any way to do that without just giving them expertise from the get go. I feel like I've seen this somewhere in one of the classes but I don't see anyway that this is possible with the dropdown menus I get when editing my subclass. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know so I that I can change it to work the way I want it too. Also If this feature does not exist anywhere in the base game and I'm just delusional then let me know as well and I'll rethink how I want to add this skill.
