Path of the giants dryad.

So I was trying to come up with dumb character ideas amd rembered how dryads are probably one of the worse creatures for a player to use due to their limited movement. But them I rembered that path of the gaints existed so why not use the tree as a gaint hammer. The main issue I ran into was the tree its self as if the tree dies i die, so their are a few possible ways one could go about this. I could go cleric and maybe use some heal spells to heal the tree, Druid to just regrow the broken parta of the tree and heal it that way, amd Paladin, for lay on hands and also smiting people with the power of tree. But the question is if I were to do Paladin would I even be able to use lay on hands on the tree?
