I am trying to create a lesser diety. A god of flame/destruction/acid. The primary theme is hexxus from ferngully. Specifically his final form from them movie. I'd like to have it be CR 28-30. I need help making him start to finish because I am new to being a dm and have no idea how to start and how to do it. Can someone make this guy?
Are you planning for your players to be able to fight this deity? I would usually recommend not giving stats to a god, as I don't intend for my players to be capable of killing a god-- But if you plan for them to kill it, then that's a different story. :)
I do plan for them to be able to kill it, but I want it to be very difficult, and have diety powers to its build. So maybe like a titan status or weak lesser deity?
In this sort of situation it may be better to take a base monster that is relatively close and then add on or change things as needed. I suggest using the Zariel stat block from Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes and then adjusting from there. The demon already seems pre-loaded with fire and poison themed powers, so the more basic changes would be to greatly increase the size from large to huge and then maybe steal the Incorporeal Movement power from the Wraith to help sell that your monster is more of a cloudy entity. Also look into the regional effects and lair actions of Zariel to help sell the polluted landscape and offer more story and combat opportunities.

Metamongoose. That is perfect! That's exactly what I'm going to do.
